I can't eat it so I painted it!

Two days ago I had to have a wisdom tooth pulled so for the next few days I can't eat anything spicy, hard to chew, ect.Today I was in traffic and noticed this big billboard with a delicious looking pizza on it and thought how wonderful it would be to sink my teeth into that tonight, but oh wait, I can't.So I came home and painted the darn thing. It's funny what inspires me to paint.

One more for today

One of my favorite color rose is the peach color.I'm sure it has a name but I don't know what it is.I'll have to look that one up too.I chose the burnt sienna background color first before I even knew what I was going to paint,I do that sometimes just to spark inspiration. The light peach roses just seemed like a natural thing to paint with it.Maybe tomorrow I will break out the abstract ideas and come up with some more of those.I don't know,we'll see what tomorrow brings :)

More rainy day painting

SOLD
I haven't had a lot of inspiration for painting lately, the last couple of days have been rainy and just plain uninspiring.I did come across a photo from a magazine of this beautiful butterfly and decided that was going to be my painting for today.I loved the contrast between the black, the bright blue, and the orange. I'll have to look up it's name and where it comes from, but for now I'm calling this one "Beautiful butterfly"
I found it! it's a Red-spotted Purple (Limenitis arthemis astyanax)

Rainy days are good for painting

SOLD
I got up early this morning because of the rain pounding on my bedroom window and thought, "Well this makes a perfect day to paint something bright and cheery".
I received a beautiful basket of Begonias for my birthday last week and decided to pull my inspiration from them.I love this loose style of painting, it always gives the subjects an ethereal quality.
Since it's suppose to rain all day I'll probably paint one or two more.I think a landscape is in my future.

Stop me before I paint another

SOLD
I really need to get outside and enjoy this beautiful day but these darn cards are addicting.I just can't stop painting them.
This one was inspired by my son's darling girlfriend's cats. They are so beautiful I just had to paint one.I love painting on black backgrounds. It really gives the subject depth.
O.K., now off to help hubby with the lawn mower........but maybe just.....one more painting???...

Just finished this one this morning.I'm trying to paint at least one a day so I have a nice variety for sale. They are selling really quickly on Ebay I can hardly keep up,but that's a good thing ; )
I couldn't make up my mind if I should paint a dog or cat so I did both.I thought they were so sweet together I named this one "Best Pals".

New switch plate covers

I'm working on some new designs for switch plate covers.I just think plain old covers are so boring, why not make them a feature instead of an eye sore.
I've taken a metal switch plate and covered it in Polymer clay, cured it in the oven, textured it, painted it, and antiqued it.After all that is dry I coat it in three layers of Polyurethane to protect it and make it washable. Why three? I like odd numbers.
They will be made to order and each one will be unique to the buyers decor style and custom colors. The design ideas and colors are endless. It should be a lot of fun.
This is the one I made for my office.

The first of many to come

I'm so excited to finally be a part of the blogging world.
I have been a professional muralist and faux finisher for thirteen years.I created my official website
www.debbysinteriorartwork.com over four years ago.It is chock full of photos and videos.
So why create a blog? I thought it would be fun to share with everyone what I'm creating on a day to day basis whether it be paintings on canvas, pet portraits, Polymer clay jewelry, art collector cards,
ect....Yes, I do all of this and more.I guess you can say I'm an art addict.
I'm also blessed to have a wonderful husband who is also an artist.I'm hoping to post some of his artwork and videos as well. We'll see if he let's me :)

I may post some artwork from my wonderfully talented friends now and then also so I hope you enjoy my blog and I would love to hear from you.
Thanks for checking it out.

I painted this mural yesterday for a lovely young college student.
